Hey Vette, Just logged into DB. Thanks a mint for all of your pics and step by step procedures you have shared. On 6-11-11. I just got my Benz 617 out of the car Sat nite. Next is clean up and change a few parts that I read about when swapping out this eng before installing in next vehicle. I will be following up with pics and details as things roll along. Doug.

i love my truck. i have about 300 miles on it now and it rocks. only problem is the alternator belt. im going to the local speed shop tommorow and see what my options are for a underdrive alternator pulley. im on my second alt. belt. I tighten it up and it works for a while then starts squealing again. I really think an underdrive pulley will be the cure I have been looking for. ill let ya know how it works

what amp is that alt. sure sounds like it is a high amp alt to me.
I think I am running a 65 amp and my truck is all power with no problems.
Vette Also I will say do not run a cheap belt

im not sure what amp the alt is but it is stock to the truck and i have no power options othere than a power driver seat (that i put in). it seems to burn up the belts when I drive at nite with the lights on. dosnt normally squeal during the day. my truck was pretty base model 4cylinder 5 sp work truck. i wouldnt think that it has a higher amprage alt but ill try to figure it out.

When u put the v pulley on your alt was it a new on if not it could be worn out.
Vette

Make sure that you have a spacer behind the pulley if not it will try to lock it up

I have the spacer behind the pulley. I got the parts from a alternator I had in my garage it is from a 84 pontiac perisene. maybe the pulley is worn out, I dont know how a pulley could wear out but i guess that would make sense.

hey, what radiator are you running? my truck has a problem with over heating after highway speeds and also driving on hot days. I used the radiator out of a 2003 acura rsx. it is a full size radiator but its very thin. Also, did you get your tach to work, if so how so?

Hey Jordan, I am not sure yet what radiator I will be using just yet. It is a toss up between the benz and the one I have in my 92 S-10. The tachometer has not been dealt with yet. An article I ran across on the net, said for diesels to get the tach reading off of your alternator. Not sure yet which wire, but I will be doing that in the near future. I will let you know what is going on as it happens. Later
