Default What do you think of a 700r4 to OM617 ..

Curious to know if a 700R4 would be a good match for a 300D turbo? Low gear should be good but is the high too high?

thinking of a nissan 4x4mini conversion with a 3.73 rear end running 31" tires...

the adapter I found is $725 complete with starter

U can use that kit with a straight gear trans just add a flywheel that is what I did
in my s10 with a om617 with a 98 5 speed from a 4.3
I had a auto in it first but short on power 5 speed help a great deal on take off power.
vette

PS I bought that kit from Bendtsen’s Transmission Adapters I had some problems with it but they made it right BoB is good to work with and no's his SH$%!!

I have this setup in my Cherokee with 410's and 30' tires. It is my dd and seems to be a great trans for this motor. There has been ALOT of negative opinions with using this trans, mainly the low first gear with the larger jump to second. What I have found is this works very well with this motor. The low first gear allows for a quick take off while the turbo builds boost, then hits second as it gets into its power band. All the negative coments proved to be BS!! This motor does just fine in OD as well, so long as you gear properly. You need lower gears with 31in tires.

Would 4:11 gears put it in the sweet spot?

IIRC Benz motors torque is produced at higher rpms?

Yes, I don't think my jeep would do better with taller tires, I have 30in tires cause thats what I had, but 29's if I had to buy new tires. OD is great over 55mph, my jeep loves 70+. Thats what leads me to belive I have the tallest tire for my gearing as I don't have a tach. Bumping the timing up a little helps with tq in the lower rpm, I have mine set at 26 btc.
