Default Duramax in A surburban?

I I missing something? Sounds too easy.
I have a 2004 GMC HD2400 4x4 with a Duramax. I have a wrecked in the front end 1500 Chevy Surburban 2x4. I am going to simply cut the surburban body at the A post and under the seat same with the truck- weld them together hook up the taillights and windows-and figure out the rear A/c and go for it?
Understanding I need to shorten the wheelbase as mine is a LWB extended cab.
Anybody done this?

Thanks

Do it

Check out the channel "DuraBurbInc" on youtube. They don't actually swap bodies and frames, they just swap engines. Thought it might interest you.

A swap such as that was featured in a DieselPower, or Diesel World magazine lately. Looked really clean, and not extremely difficult.

Those are nice.

I think welding the back on would be easier and I would not need to do any DMV / smog work. It would always be the truck.
