What would be involved in swapping shafts? im not worried about the labor I am going to be doing it at my Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technology shop during transmissions next quarter.
But would I need any different gears or bearings? or should it just be: take out old shaft - strip gears, syncros and bearings then just put them back on the 2wd main shaft?
and you said i also need a new tail shaft?

yep its just a strip off and change the shaft and yes the 2wd shaft is ? inches longer that the 4x4 so a new tail housing is needed

I have a getrag that needs an input shaft for 700 plus shipping was a mopar rebuilt with 5k miles on it. Rest of insides look new. just stripped a tooth on input.

And a Mopar rebuilt transmission with 15k No problems for 1000. Both have bell housings and shifters.

No that's okay, thanks for the offer though, I found a 4x4 tranny for 300 and a mainshaft for around 100, then a rebuild kit and ill have a new tranny hopefully.
