Default 12 valve going in a 62 Chevy 1/2 ton

Newbie to the world of diesels here, but have a 12 valve that a fried of mine donated to me. I was thinking about stuffing it in a 62 Chevrolet C10. First question is how much roughly does that motor weigh, and will I need to beef up the suspension to accomodate? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A 5.9l cummins weighs 1020lbs dy. You might look into the 3.9 4bt which weighs 745lbs. Thats about the same weight as a fully dressed big block chevy. I dont know what your front suspension or the front half of your frame looks like but it probably requires boxing of the frame. The added weight of the bigger motor is going to drop your front end a bit so you might look into swapping to some 3/4 ton suspension from the same generation.

Got some Moog springs out of a 1st gen Cummins and adapt them over.....might have to make new spring pockets in your lower a-arms.
