Default swapping a 2003 6.0 to a 7.3

i have a 2003 with the 6.0,locked up of course

i have a 2000 e450 bus with a 7.3/auto

has anyone switched one over before? i have a complete running bus, with everything...

how hard and what would be needed to make it run?

i know engine/tranny and wiring ecu...will the dash work in the 03 still or will it take a wiring genuis to figure it out?

If you were to take your time and not screw any of the wires up out of the e450 and keep track of everything it would be pretty easy. Not sure on the dash wiring, may have to put a 7.3 one in and the motormounts should bolt right in to your frame and the plumbing should be fairly easy too. Good Luck

im sure im going to tackle this...the 6.0 are rediculously expensive and the 7.3 is tried and true engine...and parts are more plentiful and cheaper...

im not too worried about mounting and plumbing...thats not hard. i just hate wiring ...i dont have the patience for it..

Have you looked into or considered a 12v? I know you already have the e450 and the 7.3 is a good motor, but the 12v only needs 3 wires to run ( 1 wire on a 1st gen) and so many people have done them that there is a LOT of info on the swap. Just something to consider

Putting a 7.3 in seems like going backwards to me, I dont care how bad the 6.0 is. What transmission would you use?

It would prolly be more cost effective to do a 12valve conversion. Call swamps diesel i know they can tell you what it takes to swap a 7.3L into a 6.0 truck
