Hi Guys, new to the site. Have some plans and want some thoughts. I have a 77 GMC dually crew cab 2WD 3.73 gears. Had 454/th400, now 350/th400. Want to dump the combo an dreplace with a 4-53 and an RTO -601 or RTO-6610. Not really making a powerhouse, but something for fun/hauling family. Do you think this is a good workable combo? Also what mods are needed to clear the front crossmember with the oil pan? Thanks!!!

I see quite a few 4-53's swapped into trucks, heck I've even seen a couple 6V53's. My dream is to squeeze a 6-71 into something......

The engine should be fine for what you're doing. I have no idea on the transmission you listed. Lost me there .

 

Trans is a medium duty Fuller O/D 10 speed. Truck has 3.73's in it. May go to 3.54"s

 

Sweet sounds like it would be an awesome ride. Not real sure on alot of the specifics though, you might just run a few searches and try to find someone who's done this kind of thing before
