First: I agree.

PJ, Looks like you have made some good headway on the truck. I have used the 12 volt tipper setup on a few different 1 yard dumptrucks, works out allot easier than HYD lines and engine driven pumps.

for sure, i looked at making a scissor type lift and powering it with 1 or two jacks, then having a priority valve from the PTO to divert between the winch and the tipper gear,a self contained 12 volt unit became available so i said 'F.T.'
i did around 10 hours fab on the hinges,i got so hyper with the TIG that the torch gas cap siezed into the torch,i have a spare, bigger torch set up for ally, but it,s a major $ set back.
we got our first local hot rod/military/biker show at the pub end of this month,so as one of the organisers it,s a bit hectic, plus im still dealing with registering my new truck,it,s a major PITA as the local vehicle office is rammed with non english speaking DIMLOWS holding up the lines.
i,ll get through this cr#p tomorrow i hope

I bought a MILLER 1-A cooling radiator and torch after I wrecked a couple of uncooled TIG torches.

Did you get the other truck registered?

hillbilly pulled the motor outta my spares truck-

tack welded the hinges to tipper frame-

turned up a turbo cold side adaptor to hook into the ram cool air intake-

took some advice from an internationally renowned expert-and fitted a beer fridge-

and this is dumpy- ' sir dumpleton O'dog ' -a belgian shepard,a very big belgian shepard,he keep the gypsies, pikies and other vermin away from our trucks-cheaper than ammo, but not as much fun [ for us anyhow ]

repairing welders right now-the money pit is getting deeper.

had a good day-the sun was out early,so i got the truck bed strapped to the forklift, now i can lift it single handed-

lifted body off and set on tressles-

with the help of dave the rave who turned up to drink my beer,we got the bed squared up with the grinder and ratchet straps and the cut rear section aligned correctly with the main part of the bed-

then drill tech screwed the two together, this pulled the joints in closer-

cut a lump of timber to press & hold the two pieces together-

tack welded and ran a seam across half the bed.

finnish welded the rear frame and test fitted-

it tips smoothly-im happy-thanks to berts beer fridge advice

PJ,
I'm glad to see that your workshop is now in compliance with the beer fridge. I also like that you put it up high enough that your shorter mates will have to ask for another rather than just help themselves. I might have to book a trip, just to check that the beer is properly chilled.
That's a good looking Belgian Shepard. Those are very smart dogs and very loyal. I like the idea of a black dog because it's more of a surprise to intruders at night. I have a 84 pound Black Lab that watches and hears everything on my property.

Good progress on the truck, don't forget a couple of dense Polyurethane bumpers under the front of the tipper bed, otherwise the empty bed will rattle and drive you nuts.

-i just found out-United States Navy SEALs used a Belgian Malinois war dog named Cairo in Operation Neptune Spear, in which Osama bin Laden was killed-good puppy.

PJ,
I think you need to stop driving your Leyland DAF around and get back to some welding here.

THE HYDRAULIC TIPPER REAR END JOB WAS GOING NOWHERE-

so i chopped the ends off the two props [PTO,main drive]-and machined the u-jay saddles back to the mounting spigots-

machined the two cut ends mounted them and measured the new prop lengths [with the sliding joint halfway out]

then cut the props to length and heated the ends to allow the u-jay saddles to be pressed in-

test fitted the two short ,stubby little props-

i also heated the gear shifter hand lever and put a bend in it to allow me to shift the truck, this will require more work when the seat is re-fitted-

having the props laid up temporary will allow me to build my prop tunnel and plan where all the controls will sit-

glad to be getting some done
