Default possible perkins conversion here

I'm new to the conversion deal, but here's what I have: A perkins 4.236 naturally aspirated, connected to a chrysler industrial transmission with forward and reverse only. The motor is complete, and now mounted in an airport tug.

What do you think about putting this into a 1993 ford ranger 2wd, that's an automatic and has the 3.0l gas motor?

Any advice would be great!

how practical would it be with only a forward and reverse? why not something a little more economical for the road?

Well-I don't know what might be more economical for the road, but I'm talking about a proven motor that I own now, and don't have to buy. I can also be sure that everything is there if, and when I do the swap.
I guess my question would be more about the transmission. Who makes adaptors for these conversions? How hard, or impractical would it be for anyone to take the perkins motor, and attach it to the ford ranger transmission that's in the truck now?
Also this perkins probably makes about 70-75 hp, I'm not too concerned about going fast with the truck, but does the diesel's torque sort of "make up for" the hp loss compared to the truck's original 3.0l?
I know there's lots of questions here, I appreciate any advice. thanks!

Anything is possible, it just depends on how much effort you want to put in. As for an adapter, you can make just about anything. There is a guy that did a kubota in a ranger, small motor with low hp. I guess if that's what you want, go for it. I had a perkins in a tractor and it was very easy on fuel.

Default perkins

That engine configuration is the same as the 6-354 in they share the same bellhousing mountings.

I have put a 6-354 in a GMC one ton years ago and I have one out of a New Holland bale wagon and it is a "6-354T".

One had a Chevy bellhousing mount up and the new holland has a Ford bellhousing. I have seen that engine in a couple of repowers and it is a Smooth runner.

Not like some 4bs!

Get-er done
