Default NEED HELP!!!

Still working on my gas to cummins swap. I have a 2000 dodge ram 2500, I put a 95 12-v in it. The question I have is can I use the wireing harness from the gas motor? I do have the PCM & the engine harness from the 95 But Have no idea exactly how to splice into the cab harness so my odometer & guages (ie.) oil press water temp and charging system will work. Can anyone help me out here.

i can save you alot of time in one sentence.

if you dont know where to start, pay to have it professionally done.

if you want everything to work and work right, it needs to be done right. dc electrical is something that alot of people cant do themselves. its not really something you can just figure it out.

i never once said you were an idiot or anything anywhere close to that. there is absolutely no need to get defensive over it.

as for advice for it, your not really going to get any when it comes to wiring. every truck has different wiring. your not just going to have someone give you a perfect wiring schematic for your swap. i wish it was that easy. to make everything work right your going to know how to work with electrical first off, your going to need a good VOM, and most importantly you are going to need GOOD wiring diagrams, not the chilton or haynes manual diagrams.

tackling an electrical project like that is alot of work. thats why i had one of my family members come help me because hes an electrical engineer. i was fairly good with electrical before but without his help i never in my right mind wouldve figured alot of it out.

there is a reason why there are automotive rewire companies out there, because not every person who wrenches can do it.

if you know how to read wiring diagrams well, and how to check resistance continuity voltage etc etc, and your halfway decent with a soldering iron, you might be able to figure it out. so if you can, like i said, go get GOOD wiring diagrams for the vehicle the engine was out of, and the vehicle it is going into. youll need them. and start from there and mapping everything out.

with two people working on my electrical for my swap it took about 4 full days

Didn't mean to get offensive,I'm here to make friends not enemies. I can sort the wiring with an ohmmeterfrom the guage cluster to the PCM, what I guess I'm wanting to know is what can the PCM live without, such as the fuel water sensors and if the intake preheat is really necessary? also the odometer in my truck is digital, the donor truck is mechanical, wondering if I can keep my present odometer?

well your odometer i would assume is based off your speedometer i would assume. which would come from the output of the tranny. but i dont know for sure. if i had a wiring diagram i could help you out but like i said all trucks are different so you gotta get the right wiring diagram. fuel and intake heaters arent 100% necesary if you dont live in a cold climate. but i like to do things right so i made all of mine work. im going to need alot mroe info to help you out anymore. such as what year tranny and what tranny, 4wd or 2wd, and all of that good stuff.

as for gauges, alot of people use the stock engine's water temp gauge and oil pressure gauges and retrofit them to make them work in the diesel so that theyre a plug and play. but as for check engine lights and wait to start lights and fuel and intake heaters thats where the complicated stuff comes in

The truck is a 2000 2500. I converted it over to an nv-4500 5-speed. The wiring harness for the trans didn't interfere with anything other than I had to adapt my neutral safety switch to the clutch pedal as well as the reverse switch. Tha truck came from the factory with a 5.9 gas motor with an aod trans. the truck is 4wd.I spent about 5hrs llast night sorting with a meter. I still don't know much, but I do have everything narrowed down to one cannon plug.

well let me know exactly what you need help with like each gauge or each thing in particular. especially if you can get a wiring diagram i can really help you. if you want a good wiring diagram go to www.alldata.com you can purchase the vehicles data as well as all of the wiring with good diagrams for like 17 bucks a vehicle. well spent money during a conversion

I've been working on this wiring now for about a week, and I'm making progress, but it is very slow going. I visited my local dodge garage and to my surprise they lent me the books for both trucks, which I can't thank them enough for that. I have the intake HTR hooked up, the fuel HTR, fuel shut off solenoid. All of which work properly through my PDC. The problem I run into now is my guage cluster runs off the PCM, as it should, I know this. In the PCM for the gas motor there's a thing called the CCD bus + -. This recieves signal from the sending units and sends the info to the proper guages on the inst cluster. However the PCM for the diesel does not have this. I've located the wires for this bus but don't know if there's a way to get around this, or if I can even change the inst clusters? I don't know if you ran into this with your truck or not?
