Default cummins 1st and 2nd gen to allison 1000

Hey guys n gals,
End of next week I should have all the parts in hand from factory sources to attach my 2006 allison auto out of a chev truck to a 24v cummins ISB. I have a list of parts that I got from stewart stevenson recently that adapts the cummins to the allison torque converter. Also other items to hunt down are a flywheel housing off a cummins isb engine from a fed ex or freightliner truck and a sae#3 torque converter/bellhousing for the allison trans.

Do not call gm for the torque converter/bell housing THEY are completely useless. I talked to several allison transmission rebuilders and they have the housing for 240 new and as much as 150 used. this is a factory converter housing and doesnt need mods to bolt up the the cummins housing.

I will be scanning the adapter plate pictures asap and posting em up here.

will have plenty of pictures starting friday on that is when I am picking up the bulk of the parts and ordering the torque converter housing and will get parts numbers of each piece as I find em . Looking like it is gonna cost me 650 for used parts from various junk yards

Torque converter housing SAE#3 29536810

For people that do not like to try and source all those parts on their own, destroked already makes an adapter for the Cummins to Allison 1000. Always good to have more than one option though

Default true that but the price tag lol

Yeah I agree more than one source is great but that price combined with his transmission controller made me just about faint. Already talked with stewart and stevenson and they have the programs to reflash the comp to run behind the cummins engine. Mainly I enjoy the challenge plus saves me extra money for more truck toys on my 1964 gmc beasty. Plus being able to run down to the corner automotive allison store and get the parts without haveing to wait . Will be posting more on this come friday when I get all my parts home and start the assembly to my cummins. The week after will have apictures of the torque converter housing as well

You found a TCM strategy that has the correct gear ratio, tire size, up-shift, down shift, torque management, tow haul mode and torque converter lock-up? You were even lucky enough to find a torque converter with the correct stall for an automotive application/Cummins/Allison combination? I have got to hand it to you because I've tried, Scott from Destroked (thats why he saw the need for a stand alone controller) and Suncoast has tried. You must have won the lottery on the tunnel clearance as well. The SAE#3 adapter is substancially thicker than the GM adapter and is larger in diameter as well. If you can't wait untill Friday, I can send pics of My #3/Allison in my topkick and the Destroked Allison adapter on the back of 6.7 Cummins.

Default controller issues

I am still working with stewart and stevenson on the controller setup atm this is work in progress. As far as trans tunnel clearance I have quite a bit but will know more here pretty quickly. This is all work in progress so will be updating as I go along. I know there are sae #2 adapters as well so have some room to work here.

Default 1st piece of the puzzle

Hey guys,
got home last night to discover the sae #3 torque converter housing came in via oops package service. I will be getting some pics up tonight of the allison part. It came from a 2003 A1000 transmission from a larger truck. The housing is roughly 3 inches shorter in length than the factory chevy adapter. Will get some pics of next to the chevy bellhousing as well tonight when I get home. Will be taking thursday off from work to go pick the other items up from the diesel mechanic and get that posted soon also. also one thing i definitely like about the housing is that the cooler lines come out of the bottom of the filter mount plate assembly giving me a few more options regarding tranny cooler mounting and line routing.
