Default Mercedes Into a Jeep

Hello All! I am new here. My buddy gave me a magazine a day ago with some information about jeep diesel swaps. Not much in it, but the web has made it's use of browsing today. I landed on this site! I ran across a link to here with my search of A Mercedes engine swap into a Jeep. Here is the plan.
I have a 1996 Cherokee Sport 4WD and Automatic. I am considering doing a diesel swap into this jeep with a 1984 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel engine and automatic transmission from the Mercedes as well transplanted into the Cherokee. Any idea of what I might run into for mating it to the Transfer case?
Any help would be great.

It is a rather long read but may help and there is a member on here " BENZER1 " I believe is his handle but ; this is my build thread link ...... It is almost impossible to use the Mercedes trans and connect it to a transfercase but there are JEEP Manual transmissions and transfercases that make what you want to do a breeze !!!

I am in the process of the same swap except I plan on using the jeep aw4 od plus lock-up converter. Benz has no od or lock-up. I think there is more headache with adapting t-case to benz or going divorced than just adapting to the jeep trans. Good luck starting mine soon!

yes the benz trans are not known for strength...and they only have a final in forth of 1:1. oh and theres no slip yoke on the end, just a 3 hole flange that bolts to a rubber disc... deffinately try to use your factory trans, it'll make your driveline much much stronger and reliable
