When electronics come in, it gets complicated.

DMax S10 would be an interesting swap! But as stated above you would probably need a donor truck to get all the necessary parts.

If my memory hasn't failed me, there is an s-10 duramax swap out there. I think I've seen a video on youtube or somewhere. That being said the truck looks more like a trophy truck now than an s-10. the d-max is as big as a 400 ci chevy, weighs 2x as much as a small block 350 ci. a 350 ci small block is a squeeze to fit into an s10.... its possibly, as anything is if someone wants it bad enough, but my personal opinion is you'd be in for a world of hurt and a PILE of cash to stick a d-max into an s10. I put a d-max into my 1991 reg cab step side chevy 1/2 ton. quite a bit of work, and still nowhere near done. it fits nicely, but its snug. I just don't think it would fit to well into a 1/4 ton truck. just my 2 cents.

Man you need to get a thread going and get some pics up of that

And ditto. Its possible, but really one of those things best undertaken by a shop who has the money, manpower, and resources to do it. I'd say stick with a 4BT, it'll still be pretty cool

I suppose I should. And I will, tonight hopefully, if I can dig up all the photos from my old computer... Its quite the amount of work, a "labour of love" is what i have been told a few times I has been done before - check out thedieselpage and see what his looks like... it where I got my idea from.

Here's about a days worth of reading on just the thing. A dirtymax would not be a fun swap.

A dmax is bigger than the front end of an s-10

I've got an '05 LLY in my S10 and managed to do it with minimal expense "this time" because I had already spent the money and time to upgrade ALL of the drivetrain and extensive frame mods for the last diesel that I had in it.

Edit: oops, I was back a page and didn't see the link above, but that's it.
