can anybody tell me if the NP 241dhd transfercase will hold up to diesel power? Before I started my swap I converted the trans over to a nv-4500. This transfercase was behind the auto trans, I had to change the input shaft on the transfercase to mate it to the 5-speed. I have to change out the input in the front of the tranny now to accept the diesel. I just don't want to half --- anything, but would like to keep the unit together if possible, and before I put it back in the truck. Thanks

can i put a diesel in my 01 ram 1500? And use my auto tranny that in there now? What do I need exactly to do the swap?

I am almost done with my 12 valve conversion in my 01 1500 gas truck. I will update with pics and a break down of parts needed for the conversion in a day.

 

i did the same swap diesel to 360 in a light duty 2500 the 241 np is fine behind the diesel but mine had a dana 44 front end and that had to GO!

 

Thanks for the reply, after some research I discovered that's what comes behind the diesels. My truck for some reason or another came with this unit from the factory. I bought the truck new, I't originally had an auto tranny.
