Default intercooler questions?

Hi guys,
I got my engine mounts on order should be here in next two weeks since Ryan is a bit behind on them .. 1st question? the intercooler in the dodge trucks is way to derned big to fit in the engine compartment with the way the inner fenders are designed. Is there any way to design a compact mount intercooler that will handle the airflow tha tI will need for a stock engine. Or should I mount it in the bed of my truck with some fans attached to it?

Any advice would be wonderful?

Thx
Sean

you could check out a PSD intercooler. IIRC they are more square shaped.

Default psd intercooler

Yeah I check out the dimensions on the psd intercooler and it is about the same as the cummins factory one and is too big for what I am working with. Tho on a positive note I found a company Advanced Race technology that says he can build a smaller more efficient intercooler that will fit my needs perfectly. I got to get a few more measurements and once those are done he is going to get me a quote for a bar plate style intercooler.

So we will see what he comes up with...

someone correct me if I'm wrong, but since its a pressurized system, as long as you keep boost at the intake the volume doesn't matter.

I agree check out ebay. You can usually find something to work from there and the price isn't usually horrible. What about a behind bumper style like ATS used to make for the OBS 7.3's? Would something like that be to big? I have used ones like that in OBS cummins swaps and they work great.

Default Ahhhh lovely beer kegs :D

Ok have solved the intercooler dilemma . I am going to have one built into a beer keg with dual fans and iceable provisions maybe even throw some liquids into the equations. hmmmm wondering if etoh is a good heat sink??!!?? hmm have to investigate that one . Got the engine mounts in hand and trans as well. Missing a few parts to the trans but what can I say for 500$ allison 6 speed ...... Will get some sketches going of my keg intercooler idea and get em on my webpage soonest.

Cheers
Sean
