i lookced at destroked.com, bout the only thing id get from them is the motor mounts. im gonna get a 90s era ford f250 4x4 gasser and do the swap, the entire drivetrain will be dodge/cummins, ive decided to stick with an nv4500 and mount that to the motor and then get an adaptor plate and mount the NP203 transfer case that i already have to it. motor wise, im looking at a 12 valve, mostly likely a p-pump motor from 94-98, i may consider a VE considering that my power goal is somewhere around 350-400 though id rather have the p-pump. i may swap a dana 70/80 in eventually, not sure on that yet. ive priced it to be way less then what destroked says it can be done at, they say 10k to 15k total, im looking at maybe 3800 to 4200 in parts total, local junkyard has several 12 vlavers under 2 grand with about 600 for the tranny. clutch stuff will make up the rest of it.

Glad to see you got your cummins going. All I can say is my buddies put a powerstroke in a same year ford f250 gasser and it took them two weeks, 400 dollars in beer, lots of blood sweat and tears. This was in a heated shop with a full snapon setup, air, etc. I know that it is easier now with all the kits and everything else but come on bro. Think of something else to spend your money on.

My personal opinion.
I would probably buy a late 80's or early 90's 250 or SRW 350. I prefer crew cabs but that is my PO. I would get one with a 460 or diesel. IDK what axles they had in the back but the front is a Dana 60 (w Kingpins depending on year). If you get the heavier duty one I wouldn't worry about the axles. They will probably hold up.
If you want a 5-speed you might just look into getting an adapter for the zf-5. The only problem I have found with them is the aluminum tailshaft housing has a tendency to crack from the weight of the transfer case(sometimes not always. Our 86 6.9 has been going on 15 years on its current one) Also the case is all aluminum fyi. I don't know how they hold up for power. But they shift nice (better than my dads 97 Dodge that likes to grind 3rd) and they are easy to speed shift
I'd stay with the same transfer case it comes with. just to make things easier.
As for which year cummins, I think whichever one you can pick up cheap will be good enough. A VE pump will get you to your goal. A P-pump definetly will. Besides you can always swap a P-pump onto a VE later if you feel like it.

yeah im looking for an early 90s 460 4x4 or even a heavy duty 351w. as for spending money on something, i know theres better things to spend money on, but this does seem kinda fun and itd be something that id enjoy. im pretty much at the stopping point for my cummins currently and the fiancee's dakota is a POS and shes never had anything that wasnt a POS and this way she gets a vehicle she likes and gets to pick out how she wants it to look. call me stupid but its an idea

im not a ford fan, but i think itd be neat. my fiancee and i were looking at getting an 02 or newer jeep grand cherokee but as we both like driving trucks and wanst something dependable, thats why im considering the VE series motors, that and i wouldnt have to worry bout an intercooler, though eventually, id probably get one.
