Is the 4L80e a better trans for this engine ???? What are the approximate horses you are puttin out with your engine mods and are they too much for the 4L80e ??? And what T-case did you use in your conversion ??? From the research I have done I understand the Dana 300 is a easy swap ( ie.. advance adapters makes the adapter from the 4L80e to Dana 300 ) ....

Did the engine you bought come with the adapter from 4bt to Turbo400/4L80e ???

BTW.... Your swap looks and sounds awesome !!!
Thanks for the props,
I tore the 700R4 up testing the engine mods
The 4L80E would be IMHO a better transmission for this type of swap, however the electric trans controller is costly. The 700 can be built to take the punishment of the Cummins and I am currently attacking it from that angle. Should I blow up another auto trans I am looking at a NV4500 5 speed manual. I used the NP241-c transfer case and a JB conversions super short SYE kit to keep the rear drive shaft as long as possible.
And Yes the engine I bought did have the adaptor for the TH400 attached

I like your setup.
If I was doing rock crawling, or uphill racing I would use an automatic transmission in a jeep, and I have had many jeeps.

I found this on the web/net a while ago, and it is why I chose the NV5600 for my stepvan.

1966 Ford Bronco - Diesel Power Magazine

Money has always been a big issue with me, so I am always willing to go second best, or wait, and wait, and search for that great deal to come along. Being in a hurry always means spending the big bucks.

Great Job on the jeep!
However, running a snorkel means high water: Good For You; just remember to bring your exhaust up to the same height, or you will drown out your engine. Been There! Done That!

Nice attention to detail with the Cummins Badge on the fender, excellent job overall.

I am looking at doing a swap to a diesel motor for my truck (1992 Chevy C-1500 5-spd OD M/T 305 ci TBI 4x2), and the 700R4 was one of the transmissions offered for my truck (gas powered version) if I am remembering properly. Do you think keeping/using the 700R4 would be a less-expensive alternative (for now) to getting a tranny specifically designed to work with a diesel's torque?

have it built by someone who knows what they are doing. they can build it to handle the tq and hp you are shooting for....

The 700's did come hooked up to the 6.2's and the 6.5's, neither really had the stock torque that I'm shooting for.
