Started the lift kit install today, 4" Trailmaster. The instructions are pretty much crap and look like they were written by somebody working out of a shed in the back yard. Some of the issues is on Chrysler though, thought I would have to remove the exhaust to get the rear control arm bolt out on the passenger side, finally was able wiggle and angle the bolt enough to get it out. Thought, the other side would be much easier! Not! The front bolt on the drivers side hit the side of the pumkin, after much wiggling and angleing, was able to get it out. Another missing bit of info from the instructions was getting the track arm back in. Solved that problem with a come-along tied to the axle and to the frame to line it back up. Another missing bit of info, was which direction the new control arms went in, the bend is closer to one end, and the instructions don't mention which way the longer end goes. Can't wait to find out what they left out on the rest of the install!

Jeep=money pit! LOL! The steering linkage looks to be at a bad angle, so I ordered a drop pitman arm. Got to thinking, they sent a bracket to raise the rear track arm, but nothing for correcting the front, so I'm thinking about ordering an adjustable track arm to bring the front back in line, though a lot of people are moving the engine off center to clear the diff, but if I leave it like it is, I should be able to leave the new engine centered because the axle is further towards the driver side.

The instructions for the rear were even worse than for the front! I figured out why, my company does the same thing, the install tech takes pictures, then someone in the office who thinks they know what they are doing, writes up the install instructions. The track bar riser adapter was a pain to try to install by the instructions. Once I figured out that it wasn't going to work they way they said, I removed the upper control arm (which they did not mention) made it a whole lot easier. They gave the torque spec on the 5/16 bolts, but no spec on the 1/2 bolt they supplied! Seems to be a fairly solid kit for the money, it's just the instructions are really, really bad! I noticed Fourwheel parts doesn't allow any more comments on the kit since 2012, so that may be why.

I hate to say it, because they are the only place I have found that has the modified oil pan, but I think their site is compromised. Mercedes4x4.com. They don't have a secure checkout, and my card is now hacked, only two places that could have happened at, and they are one of them. I don't think it was them personally that did the hack, but they should get a better webmaste. Buy at your own risk.

Started the removal of the the old Chrysler engine today, not a minute too soon! Cranked it up to pull into the shop, no oil pressure! Apparently the oil pump failure they are famous for.

Got the old Chysler motor out this weekend, the 231c HD is going to work good, it is clocked lower, so it will work with the lift much better than the 231j!

Got the old motor mounts cut out today, ground the rear welds out, then whacked the rest of it out with a zawzall, much easier than trying to cut them out with a cutting wheel. Looks like the new mounts will be approx 4" forward of the old ones. I see why Rucktard made his mounts the way he did, the new mounts will be lower on the frame, so clearance to the control arms is an issue even with the 4" lift.
