You can coat them or even the entire engine with MinWax Helmsman to give it some resistance from the fuel breaking down the enamel paint.

That looks quite a bit easier than measuring and building your own adapter. Did you do the math for the depths and setbacks, or did phoenix adapters have the math already? Plus a big bonus would be using the vehicle OE flywheel/clutch or flex plate. Are you going to be able to get to the TC bolts thru that little gap in the very bottom?
If/when I do the next Kubota, I am pretty sure I will try and buy a phoenix adapter, mostly so I can use the jeep or dodge OE flywheel and clutch. I am not very trusting of my Kubota flywheel yet, but 1500 miles and it has not grenaded yet. Looks very good so far |
Dieselxj. I make adapter for small block Chevy ,small block ford, and jeep 4.0 adapters. Along with some others. They work with the stock flywheels and starters etc

curious, is your VM engine the pushrod version of the 2.8 crd put in about 10,000 jeep libertys for the NA market?
It'd be wild if their adapter for the CRD would've bolted up the rear of your engine.. direct transmission bolt up. might've lightened up the total weight.. Nice swap, I was drawn here (bombers) looking for info on the 3.3 cummins (komatsu) swap.. 'Gleaning all info' LOL |
This engine shares nothing in common withh the liberty motor other than the manufacture. It has individual cyl heads full wet sleeves and a tunnel bore block as well as timing gears instead of a belt Ect. Ect. I could have orderd a adaptor from Europe from the 2.5 jeep cherokee xj that is the same basic block but this was cheaper thanks for the compliment

Only reason I asked, was because Perkins, cummins. ( these I know of) respectively, share the same bolt pattern in the rear of the block. ie; any adapter that fits a Perky will fit any perky.. and same with cummins. (within it's family) I would've thought it was kind of a Corporate thing, for interchangeability within brands.
I swapped a 903 v8 cummins this fall with a 855, and those 'adapters' were the same. |
