Are the pistons aluminum? What is the black thing on the side of the piston?
|
Yes the pistons are forged alum. And I'm pretty sure they are Teflon coated

man you are moving along quick. I don't know much about the AOD. It is NON electric? Correct? How does the TC lock up? What year is your AOD?
That Is the first Phoenix adapter I have seen outside of their website. Did you have to get anything else from Phoenix? Crank adapter?. Very cool to be able to buy an adapter Looking good |
Thanks my aod came from a 91 bronco but has been rebuilt AOD transmissions don't have a lock-up converter like most other automatic transmissions. Instead, everything's done inside the transmission. They employ a small, centrally-located input shaft that engages the front hub of the torque converter, and connects to the direct clutch hub. This clutch is engaged in 3rd and 4th gears, effectively making a "locked" 1:1 input shaft-to-crankshaft speed ratio. I bought the sae to sbf adaptor from Phoenix and I'm waiting for the flywheel adaptor. They had to custom make it from a cummins 3.3 adaptor. Odd offset
