Ok so I found this sport trac and couldn't pass it up. It has 115000 miles and the timing chain broke. So ill be continuing the swap I was doing on the ranger here. The motor is a 2.8l direct injected wet sleeved with a ve injector pump. The trans will either be a m5r2 from a 1997+ f150 or a aod from a older f150 or bronco I haven't decided yet. Here are some pic of what I have so far.Attachment 31986Attachment 31987Attachment 31988Attachment 31989Attachment 31990Attachment 31992Attachment 31994Attachment 31996Attachment 31997Attachment 31998redneck leakdown test #3 couldn't hold anything Attachment 31999Attachment 32000Attachment 32001Attachment 32002
So this is where I'm at now. About half my rebuild parts are in ill post more pics when they come in

That's going to be a cool swap. Is it a 2wd or 4wd? I don't remember if you mentioned that. Looking ahead to my next endeavor I'm looking at a Jeep Liberty with the Kubota

Rangmar 09-18-2014 11:26 PM

It is 4x4. I think a liberty would be alot of fun with a v2203

I'm going to have to do a little research though. One to make sure it will fit which I think it will and two...to get the automatic transmission to function with the kubota. Should be enough jeep gurus out there to steer me straight.

How would you go about adapting a non electronic tranny to that transfer case in that sport trac? Or could you go to an older t-case as well

Well it looks like I'm going auto. If I use a aod the od is .66 and with the tires on it its perfect with my 4.10 rear gears. 1800 at 61 mph and 71 mph at 2100 and I won't have to spend money on a trans controler. The factor stall on the aod converter is 1600-1800 so should be perfect for my motor. My torque spikes at 1800 and peaks at 2200. And better yet the f150 4406 transfercase will fit without cutting the fram and the front drive shaft will fit with a 1330 unjoint and. The 5.0 explorer crossmember will bolt right up to the aod!Attachment 31973

That's a nice kit. I plan on a similar one but with a different intercooler.

Thanks. I would rather have a larger one but I really don't want to cut my radiator support up. So ill run this one up high behind the grill and another one I have down low between the recovery hooks. So instead of returning through the engine bay it will loop behind the bumper and return passenger side/ same side

Do you think this transmission and transfer case setup would work behind the kubota in a ranger?

I've also been pondering a transverse mounted kubota in a ford escape wondering g what the possibilities would be there. The axle ratios are 2.91 and if the motor would fit that could be a mileage king!
