I have a factory 90 degree filter adapter (I think I still have it!?) Would that do?

I am looking for the threaded nub in the middle that accepts the smaller PH8a filters . The ones I have now are all for the larger cummins dodge thread. I think the part # I am looking for is from a L4200 tractor Kubota part # 15521-32290. But I am not sure if that has the correct thread either

Redveloce you stated in a previous post that the cam sensor is just for startup. Are the rangers configured the same way? What does the PCM need to know to function the automatic transmission? The crank sensor would be easy...the cam sensor might be more involved. Air sensor and O2 sensors could be left alone but probably wouldnt read in the parameters of the PCM. Is there anything Im missing?

how many hrs befor they need rebuild?
the one im looking at has 28000hrs on it.
how many hrs are on the engines you guys used?

I have a low hr kubota IDI that I have had for 5+ yrs.

Any thoughts on copper exhaust manifold gaskets? The motor I am getting had a bad manifold so I am making my own. Already have flanges made, will be using 1.375 OD tubing.

the gaskets I am going to punch at work out of .090 thick copper. Then I will press in a sealing/ crush ring. Has anyone ran copper on a turbo diesel?

thank
Ken

I would start the swap with your IDI and look for a DI to swap in. I am assuming the block is the same for mounting etc. The motor I am picking up is a IDI. I am starting with this and finding a DI when a deal comes up.

most people on here are finding motors with less then 5k hours. I have heard these motors will go 25-30k but you should be able to find a lower mile motor for a descent price.

good luck

2800hrs is a low hr motor, mine had 7800hhs when I installed it 2yrs and 15,000mi+ ago. We have trailers at work with over 30,000hrs on them and still going strong. Don't waste your time with the IDI if you have a DI to start with.

Fte, he says the DI motor he's looking at has 28000 hours.

am I assuming correctly the DI and the IDI have the same mounting, just a different head and injection pump?
I kind figure it like build a hot rod using a 283 SBC for mock up and not dropping the 383 stroker till the bugs are worked out.

she may be slower but basically work the same to get her moving.

FTE - You missed a 0 on his hours. He has 28,000.
I would start with a lesser hr motor.
Great motor for setup.

My bad, hadn't gotten any coffee yet! Yes that would be a motor you would want to pull apart to inspect before using at least. The reefer's seem to do light duty for these motors, and if maintenance is good it may be still good. Like I said we have older trailers at work that have way more hrs. on them and still run strong with no issues. As long as the price is cheap, rebuild kits are @ 500.00.
