The Cummins NV4500 input is fatter and possibly longer. What year is the trans? The early GM ones (91-93) have different ratios, and as a result, the cummins input may not be compatible.

Hey it's been awhile since I've been able to be on here, I found out I can swap out to 1 1/4" input shaft. I also get my my head back from machine shop from gettin valves lapped and the top decked so they will all be perfectly same hight. Then I will have rest of motor together. But I was wondering bout the nv 4500 when I set it in the truck, will I have issues with it touching the under side of my truck or should it clear everything?

i skipped over some of your build comments and i haven't been on here for a while but...(1)for your wire harness DONT cut anything on the wire harness until you have the swap done. Get the engine in and get the engine running and hook up every wire that you need, Headlights, any stock sensors, wires for heater box and wires for internal power. Figure those out then what isn't left unwrap the harness and trace back the wires to the plug in the cab and cut them off. I found this to be the easiest way of shaving my harness and not to brag but compared to other swaps my engine bay looks clean and birds nest free which is awesome. (2) for the NV hitting the bottom of your floor its all about your transmission cross member that will determine how high or low your trans sits. Keep in mind that you want the engine to sit as level as possible because of where the oil pickup tube is. I made my own crossmember idk if you plan on utilizing the factory one but i had to cut mine out so i had no other option. Sounds like your engine is coming together awesome. I wish i did the same to mine but after pulling the engine twice already i have no ambition to do it again plus its too much fun to drive and hopefully it'll be plowing soon... OH and plan on saving money to get the driveshafts built... my rear was 300 and thats with having the stock one just lengthened with a new yoke welded on.... my front one 640 custom built from transfer case to front rear.

so i bought a tranny i thought would work but ended up not being able to use it, but the transfer case i cant figure out if its usable. im planning on buying a new nv4500 but i got a np241 transfer case, it had a 32 spline input on it and i read that you can swap the output shaft on the transmission to adapt the transfer case. i also read though that the chevy and dodge np241 are clocked differently, is this true?? or am i better off just selling both the tranny and transfer case i have now and finding a dodge transfer case? thanks

So I got the motor in the frame now and waiting for my tranny to get here. But I ran in to an issue with steering pump. The vacuum diaphragms on the bump are hitting the power steering box so it won't go into the gear cover. Has anyone had this issue?

Use the later vacuum pump - no diaphragms to worry about... if you need vacuum. Otherwise there are compressors, or medium-duty steering pumps you can run in the same place.

Do you know if the vacuum with that pump will work for my ford? The brakes run off vacuum and the heater

The later cummins vac pump (vane type) works better than the Ford one.
