fummins swap and need help!

so i got a 95 powerstroke and i just bought a 89 12valve with 80k ORIGINAL miles. its all tore apart getting new gaskets and possibly new rings since i have it all apart. but anyways im getting ready to pull my motor here in couple weeks but i ran into a dilemma. im runnin a updated e40d tranny, and i was looking at the adapter plates online, and wasnt sure but am i able to use my flex plate? or do i have to order the new flex plate with the new adapter plate? thanks for the help and any extra advice on the swap will be much appreciated!

I personally used all dodge drive train and the money I saved from having to buy adapter plates I was able to use elsewhere on my conversion

What he said. Save yourself the headaches and use a dodge transmission and tcase if its going to be 4wd. Plus for the cost of the adaptor plates plus parts needed to match like a flexplate most likely. your better off just buying a dodge tranny. BTW VE is the way to go!!!

the ve and the p pump both have their good qualities the p pump is easier to turn if you want to longevity I have to say ve pump is probably better i have both and my ve has 400k on it p pump has 165 the p pump is more finicky about lift pumps this is more personal preference that mechanical superiority

I personally don't want the huge hp because it takes fuel to make hp and I want the diesels economy

I pull a 40ft gooseneck with a stock 90 dodge cummins 5 speed ve pump and put a 20k track hoe on it and it does just fine don't want to go 70 but with that much load you don't want to any way

ok its been awhile but i got the whole motor all tore apart all cleaned up and got new bearings, rings and just waiting on getting injectors pop tested. but i need some advice on what tranny setup i should use. i was thinking of running a 47re and the 241 transfercase. but i wasnt sure about what computer i would need to get for the transmission. or would i be better off buying the nv4500 and transfer case? all the input is appreciated!

Ok so I just got myself the nv4500 with transfer case for the swap, and now got few motor questions, my plan was to do Denny t Stage 2 fuel pin, 3200 gov spring, 60# valve springs, and swap stock turbo for the hx35. For now I'm gonna run stock injectors but eventually want to get bigger. But I was curious what a guess would be on my hp and torque with this set up? And I want to have my truck fast but also building it to tow my trailer occasionally

fummins0214 10-28-2013 05:15 AM

That sounds like a good start. I have a bd pin which is compairable to the denny t i forgot what stage though. I also have the 3200 gov. Spring as well as an hx35 with a welded wastegate. As for hp wise i have no idea... But if you do those mods you should look info tuning your pump, i still need to do that but tuning your pump should add alot of oomphf to your truck as well. Valve springs are another necesety if you plan on going more hp or higher rpms.
Have you done the killer dowl pin? If not get that done as well.

So I got the front clip of truck all tore down to the frame rails and ready to pull motor. But I can figure out what exactly of wiring harness I need to save. And I'm using the nv4500 tranny. And also what computer is it I need to save?
