Default OM617 fj40

After duck hunting headed to pick and pull to look around and came across some 300d turbo diesel, 177 dollars me and my brother where there next day pulling the engine and on the phone with 4x4 labs in grassvalley orderiń my conversion kit to drop into my 75' fj40. My brother got me my landcruiser while I was deployed to Afghanistan the first time and it was running a Chevy 295 straight six. Finding this turbo diesel 3 years later was a score!!! MB can build an engine. 84' OM617 swap.

I looked online a lot for a forum about this special swap and they all sucked so I'm going to tell how I got mine done and like any great obsession it will never be done. I hope this helps you out there that where lost like I was on this blind adventure, more to come in a bit with pictures and videos. Hold tight

How has the power in this motor been? I am running into the same problem, finding info on the swap (at least info about the finished product) My biggest question is there enough power to move your rig?

At first the thing wouldn't move. So I plugged the waste gate with a bolt and turned up the fuel and now I can do 70 an I live in the mountains and I'm was getting 26 miles a gallon. I bought flanges an now have disk brakes front rear I turned my rear leaf springs around and now I'm at 95" wheel base, that added four inches. I still got to put on my hydro steering assist and cu my chromoly full floater axles to length , might do thy tomorrow. But at first I was very disappointed and after turning up the fuel it halls ***. And I have a smoke stack now. I'm fire fighter so it was hard get a computer and add anything to this thread wanna say sorry about that, there's lot cool things I did that wish I took pics and posted.
