cat in place of cummins
hi everyone i have a 2000 freightliner fl60 with a 5.9 cummins in it the engine has 350k and has a ton of blowby and leaks oil out of the vent tube. i also have a 1995 chevy with a cat 3116 in it and a 6spd trans just wondering if i can put the complete cat motor and trans with the harness and and ecu inthe freightliner and what else i might have to replace to make it work.
thanks
thanks
3116 is mechanical injection and wont need a computer to run. If its electronic its a 3126

Yeah, they're pretty high here too. But you can find ve pump motors cheap and with a little tuning they'll outpull a stock 24 valve. That being said, I had a 91 topkick with a 3116 and.it was a good motor, comparable to a 5.9. It was a dog but I turned up the fuel rack and it woke.up big time
The 3126 is electronic and I don't know.if.they make.chips for.it or not. On the 3116 you pull the valvecover and adjust the travel on the fuel rack. Don't remember exactly how, I looked it up online. Did it years ago.
Diablo and TS Performance both make "juice boxes" for the '98-'00 3126 CAT...30% power increase, iirc...
