i have a 1995 chevy k2500 it was originaly a 6.5 turbo with an automatic they converted itto gas with alow geared chevy 5 speed i was just wanderin if that trans would hold up to a cummis a what knd of wiring problems would i run into if i swapped in a 1998 12 valve and where i could get motor mounts or if i have to make them
If it is the NV4500, may want to have a tranny guy look at the 5th gear nut, if you pull the tranny anyway.
The chevy vs. dodge NV4500 are the same, except for the input shaft at the engine. I left my NV4500 in the truck when I swapped the Cummins. But I also had 5th gear pop, and had it rebuilt.
Wiring is easy, I just made my 12-valve all mechanical pretty much, so don't worry about wiring. The engine mounts I bought from AutoWorld (http://www.autoworldmt.com/)
Outside of engine mounting, the transmission crossmember had to be moved rearward a few inches when i did it, which in turn needs new driveshafts. all-in-all, one of the easier diesel swaps I've done.

I have some qurstions about this too.
I'm wanting to put a cummins in my 98 Chevy silverado and wanna know which cummins would be better, I'm thinking about a 5.9 but i dont know. And also what all problems will i run into besides drivetrain and clearance? This would really help me out with this.

Selling my truck. Purchased another toy, so one of the 5 in the garage have to go... Regretably, the Chummins is the bottom of the totem pole of the vehicles I have floatin around.
So, PM me for details. I've got some FS threads floatin around, but figured I'd mention it on this thread in case someone has been eyeing it with hopes of their own Cummins Chevy swap. Buy mine! haha
