88 7.3 idi NA no start or turnover
My 88 7.3 wont start. I waited for the GP light and hit the starter button (from PO) but all I get is a small click coming from the starter relay on the pass inner fender. My voltage guage was showing just over the red so I had my buddy at work hook his jumper cables up and I get click from the relay and down at the starter. The connections at the starter look good and we tried tapping the starter while cranking but still nothing more than clicks. The starter is fairly new and gave me no issues all morning til now. Any ideas?

Bad relay....and possible starter..take the starter off and go have it tested at you local auto store. i think those relays are pretty cheap as well, so maybe just throw a new one in there first and check it out.

Thanks. I think i'm gonna have to. I had 14 volts on both batteries last night but of course when I dont have my tools with me is when stuff like this happens.

ya if you have 14 volts, then definetly take the starter off, and while your at the store pick up a new relay..it doesnt hurt to throw a new one on with a new starter. good luck bud. let me know how it goes.

Thanks dude. I called the local store and magically the part number worked. I found out the relay on the inner fender is the GP relay not the starter. The solenoid is on the starter. Looks like I might be doing a parking lot replacement maybe. Bad time to be 30 miles from the house but thanks for the help!

The starter was locked up solid. Took it to autozone and using the number you gave me globalwarmingcontributor, They had it set aside for me. Got back to the truck and the irrigation sprinklers were on...make it fun even more to put back in.At least I had more motivation to get it done quicker . But she spins over a lot faster now so I guess it was just on it's way out. Thanks for your help dude!
