Default New guys, please read here before posting tech questions...

We seem to get a lot of traffic here from new members who sign up, have a problem with a truck, and are just looking to get quick answers.

To help those guys get answers a little quicker, I want to make this post so new guys know what info we may need in order to answer them in a more timely fashion.

If you come on here and make a post saying "truck wont start" then the only info you give is 2003 6.0, wont start, need help. We really can't help you much with that can we?

Here's a rough guideline of what our users would like to see, in order to answer you more efficiently.

Year of truck:

Motor: (obviously if it's in this section it should be a 6.0, but for other areas this applies)
Cab/bed configuration: (may or may not be important, use your judgement)

Mods:
(if you have a starting problem, we need to know engine mods. I don't care if you have a 6" lift and 37" tires, it doesn't apply to this, so again, use common sense here)

Anything you've done recently:
(If you just changed your fuel filters and it doesn't start now, tell us so. Tell us what filters you used, how you did the job, anything you're unsure of that you may have overlooked or missed could help. If you waxed your truck and it doesn't start now, that probably doesn't matter, so again, common sense.)

How is the truck primarily used:
(if it's a grocery getter, or your weekend 1/4 mile runner, this says a lot about a trucks life and how the turbos and other components will last)

When did the issue start, and if it's intermittent or all the time:

Anything else that might pertain to the issues at hand:

Any codes, and what are you reading codes with:
(I've seen some programmers read codes differently than others, so yes it is important to tell us)

This is just a general guideline. I've seen numerous posts over the past few weeks where a few days of time are wasted because the OP (original poster, for you new guys) leaves a lot of vital information out and we always ask the same questions over and over.

USE YOUR HEAD!!!

If you did a 10 mile long burnout, and now you have a vibration, that's important. If you spilled a cup of coffee two weeks ago and now the truck doesn't start... I don't care, just think sensibly about this, post what info you think will help any of us diagnose your ride and remember, too much info is better than not enough, so I'd rather hear about the spilled cup of coffee, than NOT hear about the 10 mile burnout... get it? Great! We can always add to this list if anyone thinks of anything.

New Guys- this thread is not the right one for posting problems.
It is the informational thread on "How to post problems proper". Ok?
Any further post in here will be deleted.
