PTO wont engage

Hi all

1985 Harvester International S1900 with DT466 engine, Manual transmission.
It is a boom truck

I just purchased it. I dont know much about diesel or hydraulics...

There is probably some kind of procedure to engage the PTO... but!!

There is a lever, when I engage it int make a grinding noise int the transmission area...

Any help would be appreciated.

You have to have the clutch pushed in and make sure everything in the tranny has stopped moving before you engage the PTO.
