Yeah stock lines to the tank. Once you get it started though it will run and never drop preasure, doesnt throw codes nothing. I'm pulling my hair out with this dang thing.

I've never heard of a return line cause you to lose prime. The prime is held with the VP and the LP. You can lose either and be ok as long as both aren't malfunctioning you have enough fuel to get it going. If you want to be sure just buy a $10 Earls check valve, this will only let fuel flow one direction through it and install it in your supply line just in front of the tank.

When the pump kicks off you can watch the preasure guage drop like a rock to 0. Truck wont start unless you hit it with starting fluid. I can pinch the line in front of the guage and after the pump shuts off it will hold 15psi but as soon as I let it enter the Vp it drops like a rock to 0.

Mine always has dropped to 0 when i shut the truck off. Even did that stock right off the showroom floor. The starting problem is another thing though.

does yours drop to 0 though after you bump the key to prime the system? Pump will run for 30 seconds then fall like a rock to 0. It will just crank and crank, hit it with starting fluid and it will start and run rough for a second until the air is cleared out of the system.

When you bump the starter does it trigger your pump to run. That trigger is your primer. When you turn the key and get the wait to start light you should be hearing your pump run if i remember right. I have a different type of fuel system now so i have to think back here.

Yeah click key over and pump comes on but wont push presure up there, only like 7psi and falls off like a rock. Bump key it runs for 30 seconds pump pushes 15psi but as soon as pump kicks off falls to 0.

I wonder if you need to get an oil analysys done. I'm wondering if you have a, or some bad injector supply tubes. This would leak off fuel into the oil and leave air in the tubes. You won't show much over full on the oil level cause as it filled the excess would leak out the vent tube and oil and diesel are so close in composition that it is hard to tell them apart once they get soot in them. I had this problem also. I had to replace two tubes and couldn't tell by looking at anything but the analysys came back with fuel contamination.

If it's a fueling problem I have had it through the years. I wouldn't be concerned with the pressures dropping to 0 when the pumps aren't running, if that's a problem it's a minor one. When I had the problem of losing prime when you shut the truck off, I mean it lost it so fast that you could hear the fuel running back into the tank.
