what he said, but you're gonna have to take it somewhere, most diesel shops don't care what color the fuel is, dealers might, even the ones around here don't care

Sorry to hear that. Had to do the same thing last spring, though my MUCH thinner wallet did help with my back problems! On a serious note, when you get the new sticks installed, make sure you run at least a 5-micron filter. A 2-micron is still much preferred, but to my knowledge, no one makes a 2-micron that will fit in the stock filter canister. Baldwin make a 5-micron that will though (part number pf7977) . The stock Cummins/Fleetguard is a 7-micron unit, which just isn't enough.

if you start it up and let it idle take a 3/4 wrench and crack injector lines on the rail they are a pain in the *** to do at the head. whichever one doesnt change the sound of the engine is the bad one try that

NO!!! you cant do that on a common rail engine not only is it dangerous but cracking any of the lines on a CR engine will affect the rail pressure to all 6 injectors so that wont tell you anything and the issue he is having is a hard start so its going to be on the return side of the injector body or usually the check ball seat is worn from trash in the fuel, that's where the 2 micron filter comes into play and no they dont make a 2 micron to fit in the factory housing we use the vulcan under intake kits on every truck that we put a new set of injectors in, we just figure it into the price because a lil over $100 is cheep insurance on a set of injectors. You can order the caps from a couple different places online to cap off lines at the rail but then you also need the fitting for the filter housing which those same sites sell, to do a return flow test

btw if your not too far down in LA if you wanted to run it up here (northern arkansas) we could do the return flow test for ya and we dont care what color fuel is in it

That's a good way to get bad hurt! Common rail diesels have upwards of 7000psi of fuel pressure at an idle!
