i have a 2001 2500 quad cab 4x4 24 valve with auto trans just bought last week and cruise doesn't work was wondering if anyone could give me some ideas on where to start looking i couldn't find any bad fuse's thanks a lot David

 

The cruise control is under the drivers side battery tray. Mine had quit working, and didnt find the broken vac. line until I had the front of the truck apart doing the KDP. Cruise works great now.

 

thanks i'll check that when i turn it on the light in the dash doesn't light up is that the way yours did

 

I dont remember if the light would come on or not. It does take a while for the cruise to engage now though, I have to hold my tongue just right and talk to it nice. I drive 12 miles of back road to get to work, and use the wifes mega on longer trips so I dont use the cruise enough to keep the contacts in the buttons clean. You could have dirty contacts.

If it were the vacuum line I would think the light on the dash would still come on. I have the same issue on an 04.5 cr. I believe it is in the steering wheel cluster. The light should come on if you get power to the button on the steering wheel.
