If you have no fuel pressure its not a very good idea to drive at WOT. Undo the line on the sender and reinstall it. make sure you have a good ground (bare metal) on the sender and guage.

the sending unit is connected between an 18" grease line and the electrical plug. WHat would undoing line on sender do?

ok well, i did a mechanical gauge test the day after,, gauge read 15 psi, did further testing and contacted Auto Meter. Found the issue to be bad sending unit caused from an insufficient style of snubber valve, AutoMeter replaced sending unit free of charge and i had to buy an autometer brand snubber valve, which is actually a LOT different than the original snubber i had installed.

original snubber came from genos garage and had an "open" bottom, AM snubber had a solid metal bottom but still reads pressure.
