Default 1982 Chevy 6.2L/ Starting issues

Good Afternoon to all,

I am in need of assistance with a starting issue w/ my truck...just changed the batteries and everything was running fine, however, it started getting more and more difficult to start until finally it doesn't even crank anymore. I am at a loss, the batteries are brand new, I put them on a charger at night, but yet it doesn't want to crank at all. I am fairly new working with diesels and am worried that if I take this truck hunting it will leave me stranded. Any ideas?

Thank you for the direction, I was thinking it was the starter, but like I said, I am new at diesel engines and didn't want to diagnose the problem wrong. (that can get pricey) I have another question for you if you don't mind, the engine in this truck has not been modified at all, are there any recommendations you could give me as to what modifications would be most beneficial to apply to my engine? Thanks again.

Pretty much nill for anything beneficial.

BTW, your looking at $260 for a remand starter. Get it through NAPA, and you'll get a lifetime warranty.

Put a turbo on it. You can take a 92,93 6.5 turbo, passenger side exhaust manifold, intake and upper intake of a f code 6.5, down pipe, and oil lines and they will bolt right on to your 6.2.
