OK,
I have an update.
I did get to speak with Patrick and he was a great guy to talk to. I was surprised that he took so much time to attempt to help me out over the phone.

So, this is his advice.
I need to remove the Governor and clean the valves, he thinks the cold shifting is due to junk in those valves and if cleaned it would improve the function. I asked him about a new valve body and he said he would not look there first. I have never done anything like this so it should be fun.

I also want to get a shift kit to upgrade the 20 year old springs in my valve body, could someone recommend a kit for my 1988 C6 ? I see them on line but don't know what to buy.
I'm not looking for performance or anything fancy, just help it shift better and last longer.

Thanks for all the help guys.
