knocking noise??
new here, so hope I'm in the right place,no short was to ask, need ANY suggestions, loaned my truck (1st & last time) was needed to move a travel trailer, one way trip about 150 miles, put in a new clutch the week before, rollin like a champ, made the trip going ok, friend was being nice and charged the AC while he had my truck, one thing may have nothing to do with the other, but--he was starting back, got about 10-15 miles into trip, things going good, then he calls "your trucks knockin" I'm like duh- it's a diesel, he says "NO, I mean really knocking, loud", I'm like get it as close to home as you can, so the tow doesn't cost me more than the truck did, with trailer still hooked, they brought her home,(I was at work) got home that night, cranked her up, LOUD knock, can't tell from where, all fluids at proper levels, no smoke, has all the power she had to begin with, if you listen REAL close, slight miss, starts everytime, the check engine light is not on,aside from the noise, shes as good as she's ever been, any suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated. Sorry so long

knocking noise??
Well for starters if you just put a clutch in it the flywheel bolts may not have been tightened to spec and could have worked loose, however if flywheel was not removed it could be in the clutch. I would suggest get under the truck and listen by the bellhousing to see if that is the source of the knock
