Wheel hop

Wheel hop
Anybody got any ideas as to why my 93 D250 1st Gen feels like the front wheels are hopping around 120km/hr? I've done the ball-joints and replaced the shocks plus the main steering link and the steering box..... I'm stumped.. The tires are new too.

Is there an easy way to check for sloppy tie-rods? When I did all the other work it was at the recommendation of a shop that did my "out of province" safety inspection. They didn't list tie-rods at that time.... By track bar do you mean the main bar that ties both sides together? If so, it has been changed already. I had to drop the pitman arm when I changed the steering box and it was OK too.

If its a wheel "hop" more than likely its within the tire itself, new or not. Does the hop go away as the speed increases? If so definitely check the balance and for bad belts within the tire. This should be done on a high speed balance machine. Just my 2 cents, I'm not real knowledgeable on the 1st gen's. Good Luck, hope this helps.

All four tires were brand new and a matched set. I had the tires checked, balanced, road force balanced, rotated front to rear and eventually had the 2 front ones replaced under warranty...... Still got the problem. I did some reading here on the site and someone mentioned improper wheel bearing tightening. I'm going to check them this weekend along with the tie-rods.

the trac bar is the bar that ties the axle to the frame. have some one turn the wheel back and forth while you get under there and see whats up.
what kind of tires did you buy and what size are they? did you put the front ones on the back and drive it?
I have seen and heard of death wobble happening at a very specific speed. not often but I have seen it

First gen's dont have a trac bar on 4x4, not sure why a 2wd would need one
check the centering of the rim.. not sure if it all trucks or just duallies but the rims need to be centered on the hub using different lugnuts.
