Default Leaking fuel supply line, Crazy oil pressure Reading

All,

Previously posted thread was closed starting a new one.

I am in need of someone in the Virginia Beach Hampton roads area, that knows how to install fuel lines on an 03 Duramax. I had a previous thread where i stated i was leaking diesel, and after having someone look at it, there is a pinhole leak in the fuel line feeding the injector,
(leak or pinhole is right above the clip) Bought a new fuel line from Oregon diesel, and i just need to find someone that can put it in for me. Any thoughts or recommendations? The line is the back line on the driver side, cylinder #8 (yes the worst one to get too) I'll gladly pay cash or beer.

Also my crazy reading oil pressure is actually a fault in the gauge cluster, also a common problem on my truck, bought a new gauge cluster with with faces and stainless trim, for 250 bucks, works like a champ and i now have oil pressure that reads correctly. The company also repairs clusters for 100 bucks with new stepper motors bulbs etc, and they install the latest software into the computer on the gauge cluster. Just FYI

Thanks for all the help.

Karl

Default Help!!! Low Oil Pressure, Fuel line Instalation

So, i installed my sweet new gauge cluster from digital dash solutions, looks sweet mileage and hours are accurate, everything works like a champ. Link to there ebay store is pasted below.
SPEEDOMETER SALES AND SERVICE items - Get great deals on Cluster repair service items on eBay Stores!

So after installing the gauge, a few days ago i was driving to work this morning and sure enough, Low Oil Pressure warning pops up in the info display...?!?!?!?!?! WTF, the trouble code said the dash was bad, and now i am at a loss.

Does anyone know where the oil pressure sensor is on an 03 duramax? and a rough cost estimate? how to install the sensor, or a haynes type repair manual for our trucks???

Still waiting to hear back on instructions for installing the fuel line, or at least a manual to reference for instructions on how to install the fuel line. Maybe a finger in the right direction on where to buy a repair manual?

If you live in the Virginia Beach hampton roads area I'll gladly let you drink my beer if you bring your manual over so i can use it and watch me work on my truck...

Some help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Karl

Dr Evil, thanks

after talking to a Chevy service manager, that seamed more than willing to help (odd at best) he told me there is no Haynes type manual for the truck, (he said there was to much information to put in a book so its on cd's only) and the only one out there he knew of was only available to dealers (TOTAL BULL$%&# you can't buy it)... he did say gauge problems are a dime a dozen, (which i already replaced) but oil pressure sending units he didn't see many that have gone bad (ordered one anyways $103 2 day shipping) so my question is besides the wires that travel from the sensor to the ECU the gauge and the sensor, what else could it be?

Directions on how to put the sensor and fuel lines in would be sweet...

Also thinking about saying F' it and putting in an aftermarket Oil pressure gauge, anyway to not make the gauge say i have no oil pressure all the time when putting the aftermarket gauge in?

Thanks for all the help,

Karl

Well the oil pressure sensor "should" be as simple as pulling the plug off and using a deep well socket to turn it out. Couldnt tell you the size though.

Cummins/Dodge have all sorts of oil pressure sender issues too. Both on the 12V's and 24V's.

I have a mechanical oil pressure guage - and run oil right into the cab through braided stainless steel line. You should be able to make the guage a dummy gauge (always showing the same pressure) using a resistor (couldnt tell you the value though).

Fuel lines shouldnt be too hard either - do they have special fittings or anything? Are they rubber or hard lines?

Sorry, only ever rode in 1 Duramax...thats the extent of my knowledge

the pressure sender is located in the valley on the driverside towards the back it takes a special socket to get it out

What type of socket some proprietary type socket, or is it a rental tool socket?

Dr. Evil

The fuel lines are hard line (brass? i believe) with A nipple on both ends that "sit" into the fuel injection rail and the top of the injector; on the fuel rail portion they have a deep nut about an inch long that surrounds the line and screws over the connection on the fuel rail, on the injector side the nut is about 4 inches long.

Then there is some type of retaining clip that keeps it from backing out, on the valve cover... the main problem being is you cant see if the nipple is seated properly on the injector because its under the valve cover, let alone see if your cross threading the 4 inch nut on the injector... plus the fact that its hard line and specific in length makes it even more of a P.I.T.A. not to mention the exuberant amount of crap over it (main harness, intercooler feed tube, etc.) I'd do it, but id like at least half *** instructions before i attempt it, and how do you torque it, (Box Torque wrench?) since the line comes out no getting a socket on it.

The helpful service manager said the book does not even list man hours to replace that line or any of them for that matter, he says bet on about 6 (read $600.00) ....

and they want $275.00 for the oil pressure sending unit...

Cluster: $250.00
Fuel line: $115.00
Oil pressure sendor: $105.00

Labor: $875.00 roughly????

time to trade the truck in and buy a new one and just beat it until the warranty is about to run out and get a new one?!?!?!?!

and to boot just broke 69K miles... WTF!?!?!?!

Default Oil Pressure Sensor, Leaking Fuel Line

First off i want to thank everyone for there posts, I do appreciate it

So i ordered a GM service manual - the pressure sensor does not look that hard to remove and replace, other than getting to it. Will take pictures and post them on here when i do it this weekend.

As far as the fuel line goes, that does not look to mad either:

Remove the water/air fuel filter
Disconnect the feed and return line from the back of the CP3 pump
Remove line

Install new line
Reconnect feed and return lines replace filer, prime system check for leaks

The only problem i see with this is torquing the fuel line fittings to the injector and the fuel rail, to 30 Ft/Lbs the fuel line is in the way so a regular socket will not go over nut on the sleeve for the line.

Does anyone know of an open ended attachment for a torque wrench? The only thing i can think of is getting a box wrench bending it into a "U" shape and using that to torque the fitting...

Thoughts or help would be appreciated.

thanks again

When i remove the line, and oil pressure sensor sending unit, I will take as many pictures and do a step by step and post on board for anyone else.
