Default cummins surging

my 2001 cummins started to surge the other day. it surges from 800 to 1200 rpm. i have an aftermarket lift pump and a edge juice wit attitude. i dont have a fuel pressure gauge so i dont know how much fuel pressure i have. the auto parts stores around here have no idea what im talking about. what could be the problem?

Your Edge JWA can show fuel pressure if you have it connected. Mine does it sometimes as well and its probably the VP44 dying a slow death. Have you had it checked for codes?

You cannot rely on the check engine light.

If you dont have a fuel pressure guage and a scanner - this truck is going to cost you a LOT of money. You need both - and by now, there is no excuse not to have either. This has been common knowledge for years now.

Have the truck scanned for codes and install a fuel pressure guage asap. Try removing the Edge box and see what happens.
