7.3 won't start when hot
2003 F350 7.3 auto 77000 mi won't always start after being run for a while. If it's shut off for a short time like at gas station, it will restart. If it sets for an hour or so it won't always start. If it sets 2-3 hours or overnight it starts right up and runs fine.
The frustrating thing is that is intermittant.
Replaced cps 4 times, oil pressure sensor, and had a black box from the Ford dealer for three weeks. When at the dealer it started every time.
Any ideas?

DO you have access to a scanner that will let you read ICP pressure? Typically a bad injector or ring can cause ICP to bleed off making it hard to start when hot. It will start fine cold as the oil is thicker and oil pressure is higher, but as the oil heats up and thins out the leak gets worse.

We try cranking 10-15 seconds 3-4 times before giving up. The truck will start right away or not start at all. This has been going on for over a year so we don't want to keep cranking and cranking and end up with a burned up starter. If it doesn't start right off we let it set.
We would have to take the truck to someone with a scanner. It's my dad's truck so I'm not sure what all has been looked at with a scanner. So far it's only been to Ford dealers. Do we need to take it to a shop that only deals with diesels? Thanks.
