hard starting wont stay running. dies like its turned off or out of fuel.
things i have done.
dropped tank and cleaned it. was not very bad at all.
new filter.
blead air and drained t nut.
got to the lift pump and never heard it operate.
took it out and hot wired it and it seems to pump like crazy. (did not check pressure)
took a meter to the wires feeding the pump and its not getting any juice????
could not see where it is fused.
does the pmd feed this?? first diesel and i am struggling.

 

No the pmd doesn't feed this. There is a fuel pump relay and on 92 I think it is on the firewall. There is also a oil pressure switch on the back of the engine that tells the fuel pump is the engine has oil presser while the engine is running. But my guess would be the relay has went bad.

 

yes it has about 45 psi at idle. i will check the relay.

changed fuel pump relay tonight. actually hit 3000 rpm between a few shifts (never able to do that before) took for a 1mile test drive and let idle for about half an hour.
