Default '97 Dodge truck just shuts down and stops!????

I am posting for my Dad...his truck just stops, everything shuts down, no power whatsoever...no radio or electrical...is there a main relay that is connected to the key ignition that would cause the whole truck to shut down...this problem has happened about 3 times in the last 6 months...anybody else experience this problem before and what was your fix...I think there is a weak relay or the ignition switch is going out, any thoughts..I'm not sure what to look for or where to start.

HELP!

does it go completely dead no power to headlights either everything goes down check your battery cables wires to your starter and check for corrosion at your battery posts and how long before you can start it again posible fusible link problems
