OD, Speedometer, and some other stuff
This whole thing is really driving me off wall.
It all started with a broken speedometer-so i replaced the VSS checked the gears and made sure it had 8v to it- no luck- replaced the ABS sensor-no luck-then my whole cluster stopped working! There is no obvious loose ground.
I need to drive across country at the end of the week and i'm beginning to get worried. I tried briefly to wire a switch for he OD so i could at least get to highway speed, but didn't have any luck.
Can anyone give a hint as to what to try next? Or if you have any idea about how to get the OD solenoid on a manual switch?
thanks,
dan g.

Sounds like a PCM or voltage issue to the PCM but I don't know if the 92 trucks had one back that far.

Our 92 has a pcm. It controls the O.D shift, cruise control and is the regulator for the alternator. It sounds like a broken wire in the harness somewhere. If it will help I have the factory manual on C.D. that I can send wiring diagrams to you. Ours started acting up before I got the manual and I added an outside voltage regulator and hydraulic switch for the O,D shift.
I'm having kind of the same problem my od does not work neither does my cruise control the truck dies if i take my foot off the petal my speedo works tho idnn if it's cause it is 4 wheel drive tho. How much is a pcm and where is it located
