Default RH valvebody in RE?

I was wondering if anybody had anyexperience or known anyone who has put 47rh valvebody into a 47re. Im havin problems with my re and would like to switch the valvebody out while im in there for the second time in 2 months, for a machanical rh body. Is this possible? Any modifications need to be made? My machanic asked me about this becuase he just put 7gs into his rh and now has an extra valvebody. He said he was goona call suncoast and find out, but i fiquired i would see if anyone had any experience with this. Any help would be greatly apperiated. TY.

RH tranny 525000 before it blew the planteries. My RE 160000 and its been out twice in two mnths. Lucky me!

I don't know if it's a direct swap or not...If anyone knows it would be the guys @ Suncoast, that's all the do is mess around with tranny's.

Welcome to DB....It's nice to see another local guy on the forum

Not going to work. Also, the RH, to be mechanically controlled, has a governor mounted on the output shaft. The OD housing, output shaft, OD piston retainer, and electrical connector would all have to be changed out, and the PCM would most likely have to be swapped to an RH unit, and I am not positive on how well that would work.

So, why don't you give us a little more insight into what is wrong with your RE, maybe we can help you through it.

And welcome!

Im kinda new to this forum stuff. New to the cummins, not to diesel. I previously owned a 6.5. Big mistake. But sense i bought the 12v,I have been seaming to have some tranny problems. First it wouldnt shift outta second. No overdrive. Took the tranny apart and i broke the shift band. Put it back together wrked fine for a month. Now it starts off i. Third i can shift down to second, but have no first or od. My mechanic said he thinks it the clutches. He said it had no pressure? He had to go away for a couple days. But hes gonna drop it on thursday. He in the process of rebuilding his transmission which is an rh. He has a whole extra rh so i have any access to parts to do this swap if possible. We just wanted to go to the rh bodyif possible cuz we fiquired it was a better valvebody. So whata u think dieselnut is it possible. Should i even do it? What valvebody is better in your opinion? Ty

Ok, you are stuck in limp. There are a few things that can cause this. First off your mechanic needs to check for codes. The PCM could be shot, your governor pressure solenoid could be trashed, or you could have excessive line pressure limping it. If the transmission power relay is not functioning, it will be stuck in 3rd as well. I think your mechanic has alot more troubleshooting to do before tearing the transmission out and rebuilding it.

I thot limp was when it was stuck in second? Im kinda stuck startin off in Third but then i can shift down to second once im movin. Last time it messed up i had second only. But we where gonna do the clutches no matter whats wrong and the seloniod and the rely so we know all that stuffs new. But idk so u think i should have it ran for codes before i do anything? Is there anything that should be replaced will im in there?
