ya it registers rpms and I don't have a code reader and can't drive to town

One more thing. How long should it take this to prime. I've bled the top lines a few times and seems like they should fire off pretty quick after that but I don't know I've never had them off. Also I ordered some injectors on black friday and got them yesterday. I'm not sure if I should put them in or wait. I'm starting to think about the vp it seems like that is probably the cause. Although it is weird since it was running fine and I let it sit for a couple weeks and now it won't do anything. How much pressure should spray out of the top lines going into the valve cover?

There is some life I went out cranked and it fired first shot I let it warm up for a couple minutes then I drove it around the property I got 5 acres on my second lap it just died no sputter nothing just off It was running for about 5 minutes. Wouldn't start again. Towed it back to the house and it fired again this time only for about 20 seconds let it idle and it shut off won't start again. What is going on. It ran great when running no missing plenty of power check engine was one but who knows.

hmm its possible that the vp has taken a dump. have you tried cycleing the key 3 times and on the 3rd time leave it in the on pos and look at the odometer it will read the codes out there if you dont have access to a scan tool you will atleast know what codes you have.

I've tried that several times since I've owned the truck and never got it to work? Is there a fuel shut off solenoid or is it all built into the vp it seems like it just shuts down all the sudden not gradual or anything. With the key on you can hear a clicking noise from the vp sometimes just on off on off and sometimes nothing.

OK one more time got it to fire when I did I idled it up to about 1300 rpm for a few minutes then let it idle down to normal. for another few minutes once it hit a good warm temp I started doing laps around my property and it is running great I did slow easy laps at first and then eventually started gettin on it and it is running grreat. I had it wot a few times spinning in the mud then I let it idle for another 5 minutes and shut it down and started it about 4 times. It is doing fine. I shut it down and am gonna let it sit for a bit. I am a bit confused but it's good to drive the truck after 2 weeks.

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem to me. A broken pick up tube, fuel lines cracked and leaking air in or the pickup tube screen in the tank may be cloggin up. Might be a good time to drop the tank and check for grime and algae in there. Simple thing to do, doesn't cost anything and you can check most all of this at the same time.

If your still runnin stock fuel lines I can almost without a doubt say they need to be changed. Cracked fuel lines would also explain why this happened after sitting for a while. Air leaked in and you lost prime on the fuel so you had work all that air out of the lines before it would fire. The cold air that leaked in would also be heavy in moisture and condensation leaving ice crystals in the lines that had to thaw.

Congrat's on gettin it runnin though, now we need to make it dependable. Go get codes checked while it's runnin. Write down what they find and them clear them all at the same time. Then have them checked a few days later and see what came back and that will tell us a lot about what's goin on here.
