I have an 89 IDI hard starter. I purge air from system, it finally starts, runs, drives. I let it sit overnight. The next day It starts, runs for ~5 seconds, stalls, and I repeat the cycle. I do get bubbles from the fuels filter schraeder valve. I crack the the lines to all of the injectors. Should I buy an up pump? If so, how to wire it? The saddle tank had a leak and was removed. I'm hoping I won't have to drop the aft tank. So far I bought it for $1800, Used motor for $4800 & have not been able to make any money with it yet.

 

Sounds like the lift pump is leaking back.
