I was driving up the interstate today and jumped out to pass a truck and I felt a bump and the check engine light came on and it wouldnt shift out of 4th. I assume it was in limp mode. I pulled the codes from the ecm and i think they were p700 and p735. One said like 5th gear insufficient, and the other said something about the transmission malfunction. Is there anything you can do. How long do I have till the transmission goes out.

 

Well it really depends on what damage has been done. Is the code coming back after you've cleared it and it's not in limp mode?

fluid looks good. I erased the codes and it seems to be running fine. Light not came back on yet

It has not came back on or acted up any more. Should i do anything like change fluid etc. I am going to upgrade the transmission, will there be any advantages to upgrading it now or just wait till it goes out completely.

 

Upgrade it now if you have a few hp mods, otherwise save the money.
