99 7.3 shuts down when cold
I just purchased a 1999 F250 Super Duty w/ 7.3 engine. Every morning when I first leave the house as I accelerate the engine reaches about 2000rpms and shuts down as if it was in some sort of shut down program. If I keep trying to regain rpms it will puff a cloud of white smoke. If I pull over and wait a while it will accelerate ok. I did change the fuel filter and it seemed to help but it still happens. What am I looking for?

/me moved this to the Diesel In Distress Forum to get you more exposure
when was the last time you changed the oil?
what are the temperatures in your area?
are you letting the truck sit and idle for a few minutes to warm up before you try to drive it down the road or do you crank it up and put it in drive and go?
