I am having an issue with a 86 GMC 6.2t that cuts out or just shuts down under boost. It seemed to happen more often with no restriction in the exhaust (pipe dumped under cab) than it does with the full exhaust. we turned the fuel up about a quarter turn when installing the turbo so i am wondering if it is a fuel issue (to rich or lean) after it dies it restarts no problem.

 

do a injection pump test, slowly rev it up to 2000 rpm and slowly lower it back down to idle

 

is it possible that you could have turned the pump down???

 

I don't think so. i turned the allen screw in the pump 1/4 turn clockwise and with the addition of the turbo, gained a noticeable power increase.

did a slow rev up to 2k and back down and it runs smooth, i do notice it being around 6-8psi boost and under load when it cuts off and dies. with the exhaust turned down under the cab it will hit 11psi boost but it dies more often.
